US Holiday Schedule
OVERVIEW
Mars, Inc. offers one harmonized Holiday Schedule across all segments in the U.S. (excluding Banfield and Mars Retail Group – Store Division). This policy enables better Associate planning and flexibility for time off throughout the year. Paid holidays are a combination of company designated holidays and flexible holidays.
ELIGIBILITY
- Full-Time Associates: Receive 11 (eleven) days (a total of 88 hours) of paid holiday time.
- Part-Time Associates: Receive holiday pay when a holiday falls on a scheduled work day. Paid holidays will be prorated based on hours normally scheduled to work.
Please note:
- All Associates who are active as of January 1st are eligible for their full allotment of paid holiday entitlement.
- Any new hire that joins the business after January 1st, will be eligible for a prorated paid holiday entitlement based on their date of hire.
- Any Associate who separates from the business during the year, will have their paid holiday entitlement adjusted based on separation date.
PROCESS
Company Designated Holidays: The Holiday Schedule reflects holidays on the actual day(s) in which they fall. Recognizing that our Associates work varied schedules, if a holiday falls on a day you are not scheduled to work, you would be granted a flexible holiday.
Flexible Holidays: Mars recognizes that Associates observe holidays outside of our Company Holiday Schedule. For Flexible Holidays, an Associate can choose to use at their discretion, with Line Manager’s approval. Flexible Holiday hours:
- Must be taken within the calendar year
- Cannot be cashed out
- Do not carry over into the following year
- May be taken in one-hour increments
A segment or site may decide to designate additional Flexible Holiday(s) based on business need. This decision would be communicated at the beginning of the year.
NOTE: Mars will adhere to any and all state and local laws or regulations that are more stringent than this Holiday Schedule where applicable.

Associates who work a Monday-Friday schedule receive a total of seven (7) company designated holidays and four (4) flexible holidays.
